At EdApp, we are dedicated to improving the accessibility of our courses for all learners. As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusivity, we have made significant improvements to the way screen readers interact with a carefully curated set of 11 slide templates. This effort is aimed at enhancing the learning experience for those who are visually impaired. Our accessibility improvements are now compatible with the following screen readers:
- VoiceOver (Safari/iOS)
- NVDA (Windows/Chrome)
- TalkBack (Android)
Now, with our screen reader accessible slide templates, you can create courses that cater to visually impaired learners and seamlessly distribute them to desktop and mobile users alike. This means learners with visual impairments can effectively navigate through the lessons using their preferred assistive technology.
The following slide templates are now compatible with screen readers:
- Title
- Exit
- Multiple Choice
- Bulleted List
- Horizontal Series
- Scrolling Mix (some limitations with audio files playing on iOS)
- Vertical Series
- Image Collection
- Single Video
- YouTube
- Vimeo
To ensure that visually impaired learners can access a course created exclusively with screen reader accessible slides, we recommend using deep links for sharing. Please note that the login navigation in EdApp is not yet fully compatible with screen readers, and this approach will provide a seamless experience for your learners.
While we continue to strive for the best possible accessibility standards, it is essential to mention that image alt tags have not been implemented on these slide templates yet. We understand the significance of alt tags in providing valuable information to visually impaired users and will be working diligently to incorporate them in future updates. Presently, screen readers will read out the file name of the image instead.
Rest assured, our team is committed to achieving WCAG compliance and further enhancing the accessibility of EdApp courses for all learners. We believe that education should be accessible to everyone, and this is only the first step on our journey towards a more inclusive learning platform.
